NU student council takes over office

NAGPUR: Nagpur University's newly elected student council representatives were installed at a ceremony on Saturday. Fifteen students from different colleges were nominated on the board.
Director of students welfare board Arun Patil said, "The aim of this programme is to cheer the newly elected members and to educate students about various activities and schemes taken up by the university."
Vice-chancellor Vilas Sapkal urged students to explore their hidden potential. "Inquisitiveness should be promoted in every field," said Sapkal. He added that commerce and arts disciplines need more takers. Sapkal that the university will take all measures to address students' issues with the help of the newly elected council.
Senate member Mohan Bajpayee said, "Students have not received scholarships for the past three years. The finance department has not provided any funds as they were not sanctioned for student's programmesI hope that the university will solve the problems faced by students during admission and revaluation processes
," he added.

In the workshop that followed the ceremony, students were informed about facilities available during admission and funds arranged by the university for medical aid. They were also awarded a certificate for participation in the programme.
State minister of animal husbandry Nitin Raut, who was supposed to be chief guest, failed to turn up for the event.
